Do we need local government?

This morning Jason Morrison spoke about Saturday's Local elections - and more alarmingly how very little people knew about who they were voting for.

Lax attitudes towards elections have taken their toll on the results - with informal votes in some seats reaching up to 20 percent.

It raises the question - if people don’t really care, what is the point of Local government?

Did you care about the Local elections - were you a donkey voter or did you actually take an interest?

And what are your thoughts on Local governments? Do we need them?

Have your say.

How many levels of government do we need in Australia?
Federal & State
Federal & Local
State & Local
Federal only
The current system works fine

i think local governments are a waste of money.they seem to be involved in everything except rates, roads and rubbish.

i would get rid of local councils and have smaller states about the size of victoria.

i would cut qld, nsw,wa and nt in two and expand the size of the act.

i would have more capital cities with sky scrappers, capital cities create wealth and australia being the size it is should have more capital cities.

with new states come development and growth to the economy
