‘Sack her!’: Calls mounting for QLD Deputy Premier to be axed

A senior federal minister says Queensland’s Deputy Premier “should stand down” over serious misconduct allegations.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad has been accused of purchasing a property from which she stands to gain financially due to nearby government projects.

Ms Trad bought the three-bedroom Woolloongabba home in March, near the new Boggo Rd station, which is being built as part of the $5.4 billion Cross River Rail project she’s spearheading.

It’s also in the catchment area of the new Inner City South State Secondary College, which she announced in April.

And Ms Trad has also admitted she didn’t add the property to her pecuniary interests register, as required.

She says she’ll seek advice from the Integrity Commissioner on the matter but is calling the story an Opposition “smear campaign”, despite the fact it was revealed by journalists.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton tells Ray Hadley the Deputy Premier “should stand down”.

“If Jackie Trad won’t stand down, Anastasia Palazczuk needs to sack her!”

Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington tells Ray Hadley the Deputy Premier has been caught out in a lie and needs to be held to account.

“She’s trying to cover it up. She’s trying to spray the blame on everyone but where the blame should rest, and that is right at her feet.

“Today I’ve called for the Premier to show some leadership and make the Deputy Premier stand aside.”
