Our politicians still seem to be resistant to engaging in the nuclear conversation, despite our nation housing 33% of the world’s uranium reserves.

In the UK, where Chris Smith is now, nuclear power is viewed very differently and is a major player in the energy game.

Nuclear power generates about a quarter of the UK’s electricity, projected to increase to a third by 2035.

Director of Government Affairs at URENCO Group Chris White details how the “highly regulated industry” could benefit Australians.

“I think there are obviously public perception issues around all kinds of energy,” he tells Chris Smith.

“Australia has a fantastic opportunity, being home to a third of the world’s uranium.

“With these next generation of reactors, you could really empower generations of communities.”
