In the wake of Scott Morrison’s visit to an Australian-owned factory in the US, questions have been raised about how to keep Aussie businesses from moving overseas.

The Prime Minister joined US President Donald Trump on a state visit to Australian businessman Anthony Pratt’s paper factory in Ohio on Monday.

Former president of the Business Council of Australia Tony Shepherd tells Karl Stefanovic there are often more opportunities in the US, and the Australian government needs to do more to prevent businesses from moving overseas.

“Culturally we don’t celebrate great business success.

“Our growth rate has dropped right off… that’s all because we’re losing competitiveness.

“The focus has got to be to improve the competitiveness of Australian business.”
