Rock melon safe to eat, as farmers face massive loses
Rock melon sales are down by up to 90 percent after the fatal listeria outbreak on a New South Wales Riverina farm in February.
It equates to about a $15 million loss for growers, but there’s fears it could reach up to $60 million.
Farmers are reassuring us the fruit on the shelves is safe to eat.
