Republic of Ireland national election & Sinn Fein

Mike Jeffreys

Michael is joined by Greg Sheridan, Foreign Editor with The Australian, who wrote recently that the backing of Sinn Fein in the recent election brings shame to voters of Ireland.

Mr Sheridan writes, ‘On February 8, the Republic of Ireland held a national election and Sinn Fein, the political wing of the IRA, won. Every Irishman should feel ashamed of this result. Every friend of Ireland is grieved.’

‘Sinn Fein gave up armed struggle in the Good Friday peace agreement of 1998. But it has never repudiated its recent past or the threat to return to the gun and the bomb if it so decides. Its history of murder of innocent people, including women and children, civilians and members it suspected of informing, is infamous. And foul.’
