A Sydney arborist says overdevelopment is causing trees to fall, as heavy winds continue to lash the city.

Councils are preventing residents from cutting down dangerous trees that pose a threat to children, despite concerns from the community.

Severe weather warnings were put in place last Friday that saw a large gumtree fall and hit five cars on the Hume Highway at Warwick Farm.

It left four people injured, with one woman in a serious condition.

Now, the Sydney Tree Company founder Abdul Rahman tells Ben Fordham overdevelopment could be the reason trees are falling around Sydney.

“With all the buildings going up it changes the wind dynamics… it creates wind tunnels.”
