Is Winx beatable? Chris Waller doesn’t think so

Rain, hail or shine, Winx is ready for another big performance at Rosehill Gardens on Golden Slipper Day.

The mighty mare is gunning for a 24th straight win, and a record 17th at Group 1 level, when she lines up in the George Ryder Stakes on Saturday.

The track has copped more than 50mm of rain in recent days, but trainer Chris Waller tells Alan he isn’t worried.

“She’s won on all sorts of tracks, the firmest tracks you can think of, to these heavy tracks.

“That’s the beauty of Winx, she’s just so good in all conditions.”

As for the competition, Winx is facing two of the world’s top 10 horses… but Waller still isn’t phased.

“All she needs to do is maintain her status at the top of the world rankings.

“We have all respect for the up and comers but realistically they’ve got to improve significantly and she’s got to come down a level.”
