Drought-breaking rain has turned to flooding across the NSW Hunter Valley and Mid North Coast.

Heavy rain continues to batter the region with Willina receiving 250mm and Tuncurry 192mm.

The State Emergency Service has rescued four people from floodwaters and responded to 750 calls for help.

The weather system is forecast to move north, as far as Coffs Harbour, before easing tomorrow.

Dungog is one town that’s been in desperate need of rainfall and has received 117mm in just one hour.

Schools have been closed for the day and an evacuation centre set up just in case.

Residents are being urged to avoided flooded roads, at all costs.

Just two hours further west, Scone remains ravaged by drought, having received just 2mm of rain.
