Andrew Bolt: There’s much more to Malcolm Turnbull’s ‘hypocritical’ late night tweet

Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has renewed questions about Peter Dutton’s eligibility to sit in parliament, all the way from America.

Just three weeks after being ousted from the top job, Mr Turnbull has posted a tweet calling for the Home Affairs Minister to be referred to the High Court.

Mr Dutton has a financial interest in two childcare centres which receive taxpayer funds, a fact that could see him in breach of Section 44 of the constitution.

In an interview with Ray Hadley this morning, the Home Affairs Minister says issues around his eligibility weren’t raised by Mr Turnbull until “during the leadership week”.

Andrew Bolt tells Chris Smith the former prime minister’s actions are “hypocritical, vicious, savage and destructive”.

“As Peter Dutton pointed out, Malcolm Turnbull for the best part of two years knew about this arrangement.

“He only raised it, in parliament, in the last week to punish Peter Dutton.”

Andrew says he believes the nation’s former leader is deliberately attacking the Liberal government.

“It’s all to do with personal grudges against Peter Dutton for having run against him and having precipitated a leadership challenge.

“And it’s all about destroying the government.”
