All-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class arrives
Some years back Mercedes-Benz increased their market penetration by introducing their small A-Class range – a range that last year represented its second best-selling model – a range with a more youthful and dynamic focus to traditional Mercedes ownership. A new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is around the corner, due next month, first up will be the A200 hatch followed progressively by the rest of the range including the entry A180 and more potent A250. The new Mercedes A-Class cuts a bigger profile – 120mm longer, 16 mm wider on a 30mm longer wheelbase – despite this its 20 kilos lighter. The A200 will be powered by a new 1.33-litre fuel-efficient turbo petrol engine with 120kW of power and 250Nm of torque. Also featuring is what Mercedes call MBUX multi-media system with widescreen cockpit and touchscreen with intelligent voice control – Mercedes suggesting it provides an emotional link between the vehicle, the driver and the passengers. Also due down the track is an A- Class sedan – and early photos suggest it cuts a very striking profile. I’m David Berthon
