‘Turn up to school’: Education Minister slams student strikes
The Education Minister says children should be in class, not attending tomorrow’s student climate protest.
Thousands of Australian students are expected to walk out and take part in the global action on climate change.
It’s the second such ‘day of action’ after thousands of students ditched class in November.
Opposition leader Michael Daley has thrown his support behind the demonstration, saying young people have a democratic right to protest.
But Minister Rob Stokes tells Steve Price students should be in the classroom.
“As adults, we have a shared responsibility to encourage our young people to attend school.
“So that’s really got to be the first message.
“Turn up to school. Don’t rob yourself of the opportunities to get a great quality education.”
