Women are ditching work earlier today to take a stand against the gender pay gap.

Today marks Equal Pay Day 2019 and according to a new report, the national gender pay gap sits at 14 per cent.

Newscorp’s female-focused site whimn.com.au called for women to join them in leaving work at 3:53pm, arguing if they were paid 14 per cent less, they would work 14 per cent less.

Editor Melissa Shedden tells Ben Fordham most of the office will walk off the job.

“Our newsroom is definitely full of women and our general manager has been very supportive of our cause.

“It’s a small gesture but it can be significant.”
