Australians are receiving a warning that they may confront the possibility of a conflict with China in the next three years.

A professor of International Security and Intelligence Studies at the Australian National University, John Blaxland told Chris that he does not see this happening.

“That’s because there’s too much to lose,” Professor Blaxland said.

However, China’s military has been going “gangbusters” building a stronger army to intimidate people.

“It is fair to say that China will probably be ready to invade in three or four years if it chooses to. But that would a catastrophic choice and they know it well.”

With that in mind, Professor Blaxland believes that they will continue to pursue a strategy that “avoids war”.
