A school in Sydney’s northwest has hired a ‘gender-neutral’ teacher and it’s caused quite a stir.

The teacher at Epping Boys High School is transgender and is referred to by the neutral pronoun Mx rather than Mr or Ms.

A parent from the school, Brett, tells Ben Fordham the school should’ve prepared parents and students about the unusual circumstances.

“It’s a bit out there, isn’t it?”

Some of the students have been filming the teacher and posting about them on social media.

Ben says that’s what happens when you don’t explain things properly to children.
