‘Stupid scooters’ plaguing Brisbane roads

Listener Marina has sent Ray Hadley a photo showing a person demonstrating absolute “lunacy” with Brisbane’s Lime scooters.

The image shows a man riding down the wrong side of the road in Brisbane’s CBD, without a helmet.

“I was so supportive of Brisbane City Council previously, who have this great docking system with their share bikes,” says Ray.

“And now they’ve succumbed to the dollar I suppose.

“I mean, we talk about the need for all of us to exercise more, and so all of a sudden, instead of walking down the street to go to the pub for lunch… people are jumping on the Lime scooter.”

Ray is also calling out the behaviour of those who are taking the scooters to the road.

Lime officials have said riding the scooters on the road is illegal, but Ray has questioned who’s responsibly it is to police it.

“The coppas in Brisbane have got enough to do without chasing people on Lime scooters.

“It’s just infuriating, that a council that was doing it so well with their docked share bikes should surrender… to these stupid scooters.”

Listener Marty in Brisbane called in to tell Ray on Saturday evening, he witnessed a bunch of “drunk kids” riding around a mall on the scooters.

“Shouldn’t they be bagged and charged for drunk driving?”

“They’ve got to go, it’s just dangerous.”
