Sustainability professor at Curtain University Peter Newman told Chris O’keefe electric vehicles should be mandated.

“The reality is, we need to accelerate getting rid of fossil fuels… 2030 would be a good mandate date,” said Professor Newman.

Managing editor, Drive.com.au Trent Nikolic told Chris O’Keefe electric vehicles are not popular enough.

“I don’t like the idea of Australians being told what they have to buy and when they have to buy it,” said Mr Nikolic.
