Push to keep Aboriginal flag on the Harbour Bridge year-round

Australia Day is one of fifteen days a year when the Aboriginal flag is flown on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Every other day, the Australian flag and the NSW flag are flown a-top the Bridge.

There is a push to change that tradition and keep the Aboriginal flag on the bridge all year round.

Cheree Toka has spent the last year campaigning to have the flag raised permanently with a petition receiving over 60,000 signatures.

Cheree tells Ben Fordham it’s an easy ask to recognise Aboriginal culture.

“If it’s good enough to fly then why isn’t it good enough to keep up there.

“I’m asking for an aditional flag pole to be raised and let’s recognise Aboriginal culture.”
