Farmers seek to improve worker conditions
The farm sector is ramping up pressure on supermarkets to pay farmers more, following a Fair Work Ombudsman inquiry into harvest workers.
It found there’s widespread non-compliance throughout the horticulture sector.
The ombudsman also found consumers would be willing to pay up to 50 cents more a kilogram for produce.
