Dr Keith Suter – the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre

Michael is joined by Dr Keith Suter, Managing Director of the Global Directions Think Tank on the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

In the early morning hours of June 4th 1989, student-led demonstration in Beijing were forcibly suppressed after the government declared martial law and sent in the military to occupy central parts of the city.

Troops with assault rifles and tanks fired at the demonstrators trying to block the military’s advance towards Tiananmen Square with estimates of the death toll varying from several hundred to thousands.
