Ahead of tonight’s Federal Budget, Economist Gigi Foster has challenged Treasurer Chalmers for ignoring the causes of people’s financial struggles. 

This comes as Federal Budget is set to report a $4.6 billion surplus.

In a conversation with Ben Fordham this morning, Foster accused the Treasurer of ignoring the real structural issues in the economy and simply handing people money to stop complaining.

Foster said, “To be told … ‘we know you’re suffering, here’s some money,’ is insulting to Australians.”
