Minister accused of ‘drunk’ dancing, calls in to defend himself

Things have gotten a little bizarre in NSW Parliament this afternoon, in the first Question Time since the winter break.

Labor MP Jodi McKay has accused NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard of being drunk after he appeared to bust out a dance move.

“That is not how you should behave, Minister. Do you really need to do that?” Ms McKay can be heard saying.

The Speaker directs Mr Hazzard to take his seat but Ms McKay isn’t finished.

“Have you been drinking? Are you drunk?”

Minister Hazzard has called in to set the record straight, telling Ben Fordham when he had his last drink.

“I can assure you, Ben, I have not had a drink for at least four days.”

He says he is partial to the odd dance move and rather than sitting down while Ms McKay was taking “numerous points of order”, he wanted to get moving.

Ben says the minister should ditch the cha-cha in favour of a new move that’s all the rage with the young ones these days…
