Matt Kean blasts Queensland’s ‘rotten’ behaviour towards NSW taxpayers

Clinton Maynard

The NSW government is making a renewed effort to recoup hotel quarantine expenses incurred when other states lowered their international arrival intake.

Earlier this year, Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles pulled a stunt in which he shredded his state’s quarantine bill and posted the video to social media.

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean told Jim Wilson “it’s an absolute disgrace”, and his government will continue to put pressure on the states which haven’t paid back what they owe to NSW taxpayers.

“We’ve sent the debt collectors up to Queensland, but they’ve come up with nothing.

“We only hear from the Queensland government through the media on this issue.

“I think it’s rotten.”
