The Home Affairs office is looking to change to visa rules which would see migrants live in the bush for longer in an attempt to curb a ballooning population.

The Outsider Mark Latham tells Ben Fordham he’s “not buying it”.

“We’ve heard this promise many, many times. It never happens.

“Are you going to have people in the main street of Armidale checking that the people are still living in that town?

“It’s just not practical.

“What is is Ben, is an attempt by the federal government to alleviate the unpopularity of big Australian immigration.”

As it stands, Australia’s immigration is capped at 190,000 each year.
