The mismanagement of national parks is attracting growing criticism, in light of the bushfire epidemic across NSW and Queensland.

NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall and Queensland shadow environment minister David Crisafulli joined Alan Jones to address the issue of inadequate hazard reduction, agreeing the current methods of management have failed.

Mr Marshall says national park estates are a “ticking time bomb” for farmers, and suggested leasing sections for grazing.

“Keeps the fuel load down, keeps the cattle nice and fat, and everyone wins.”

The animosity between park management and farmers is both states is reaching boiling point.

“Alan, if you speak to the everyday farmer, he or she will tell you the worst neighbour you can possibly have is Queensland government. It’s National Parks,” says Mr Cristafulli.
