Father accused of killing three children as five found dead

A Perth man accused of killing his children, their mother and grandmother, allegedly left the bodies in a house for a week before turning himself in.

Police say 24-year-old Anthony Robert Harvey killed his immediate family with knives and a blunt instrument.

The bodies of 41-year-old Mara Lee Harvey, three-year-old Charlotte Harvey and two-year-old twins Alice and Beatrix were found at a home in Bedford on Sunday.

It’s believed his 71-year-old mother-in-law was murdered when she visited the following day.

Their remains were discovered by police after the accused handed himself into a police station over 1500km out of Perth.

Harvey showed no emotion in court when he appeared via video link.

Homicide detectives remain at a Perth home, where the bodies of five people were found.

Police have confirmed the bodies are twin two-year-old girls, a three-year-old girl, and their mother and grandmother.

The grisly discovery at a Bedform home in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs was made after a 20-year-old man turned up at a regional police station to report the deaths.

He is assisting homicide detectives with their inquiries.

It’s the second such incident in Western Australia in the last few months after a family of five was shot dead in Margaret River.

WA Police Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel says incidents of this nature affect the entire community.
