EXCLUSIVE: Blue Mountains Council allegedly ignored asbestos at preschools

2GB’s Ray Hadley has revealed explosive allegations against the Blue Mountains City Council, with leaked reports suggesting the council has known about asbestos at several sites, including two preschools.

Between March 2014 and November 2015 the Blue Mountains Council allegedly received three asbestos audits that identified contamination in over 100 Council buildings and work sites.

In 2014, the Wentworth Falls Kindergarten Preschool was inspected with large amounts of asbestos contaminated material found in and out of the building… no action was taken.

Local Government Minister Gabrielle Upton has told Ray Hadley the allegations are being dealt with.

“Today we have a senior investigator who is going to council to further gather the evidence so that we can make sure the seriousness is met with a consequence.

“It would seem to indicate there will be incredibly serious consequences for those involved.”
