Dodgy practices took NSW RSL to the ‘brink of destruction’
Former president of NSW RSL Don Rowe has been referred to police following an investigation into the organisation.
A report released by former Supreme Court Judge Patricia Bergin alleges Rowe spent over $450,000 on a corporate credit card between 2009-2014.
It also alleges Rowe allowed his son to stay rent-free in RSL owned accommodation in Sydney’s CBD for seven years.
Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean tells Chris Smith this behaviour is “shocking and disgraceful”.
“Patricia Bergin has done an outstanding job and she’s delivered a forensic analysis of the shameful events which represent the darkest days of one of our most loved institutions.”
“I know you and your listeners…will just be appalled as I was at some of the things that he got up to and the culture that let him get away with it.
“Appropriate action will be taken against these people I hope but the evidence is compelling.
“These people were involved in corruption and cronyism which took the NSW RSL to the brink of destruction.”
