‘Disturbing’ report reveals shocking conditions in aged care homes

A damning report into conditions in aged care facilities across Queensland has been labelled “disturbing” by the state opposition.

The report, published in today’s Courier Mail, reveals one in seven nursing homes failed government inspections in the past year.

It also details evidence of malnutrition, neglect, and even violence in some aged care facilities.

15 homes have failed audits in the past 12 months.

Queensland’s Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington tells Mark Levy she found the report disturbing, and urgent action is required.

“I am absolutely shocked and horrified,” she said.

“Everyone knows someone in a nursing home and we would always expect they get the best care possible.

“We need to get to the bottom of it.”
