Barnaby Joyce has defended his decision to voice an anti-abortion robocall rolled out across NSW.

In the call, the former deputy prime minister claims the proposed legislation allows for abortions “for any reason right up until the day of birth”.

He’s copped widespread abuse on social media for the call, with some claiming he’s spreading misinformation.

But Mr Joyce tells Steve Price it’s important people are educated about preventing gender selection abortions.

“People say ‘that won’t happen’. Well, it does happen!

“It’s rare for someone to throw a brick at my head, but it doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be legislation to stop someone from throwing a brick at my head.”
