Australian aluminium exports have increased by 350% after Australia dodged tariffs from the United States.

US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on exports from China and Canada, with some reports suggesting Mr Trump did not include Australia to preserve bilateral relations.

Former Ambassador to General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade Alan Oxley tells Ross Greenwood Australia needs to be more careful in its dealings with China.

“I personally think we’ve made a bit too much noise and I think that we should have been a bit quieter and a bit more careful, but the fact is China still hasn’t penalised is.”
