Seven-year-old Olivia and 13-year-old Jordan can’t speak, are fed through tubes, are wheelchair bound and require 24-hour care.

Parents Rob and Vanita have been told if they want funding to continue, they have to relinquish control of their children and make them wards of the state.

Ben has been campaigning for NSW Minister for Disability Services Ray Williams to resolve the situation and provide certainty to the families involved.

He has finally confirmed funding for out of home care for disabled children is guaranteed.

“We have landed in a good place,” he tells Ben Fordham.

“To those parents that can no longer care for their children and provide accommodation, their funding needs will be met under the NDIS.

“I can absolutely assure you… that going forward it will be smoothed out.”

The Minister also acknowledges Ben’s role in the agreement, thanking him for driving the campaign to guarantee funding.

“That’s the role the media plays.”
