NSW Labor plans to scrap infuriating road rule

Labor is promising to scrap a frustrating road rule if they win the election.

They have vowed to scrap the 40km/h speed limit at roadwork sites outside of work hours.

The rule currently applies even if no workers are present at the site.

Often the speed camera in the area is adjusted to the slower limit of 40 kilometres an hour.

That leaves drivers subject to heavy fines and loss of demerit points, if they travel at the normal speed.

In a “strange” move, Labor leader Chris Minns wants to bring in new signs.

Ben questioned if we need the signs: “It may just confuse people even more, why not just scrap the signs altogether?”

“We think this a common sense approach,” Mr Minns said.
