Ben Fordham is commending the NSW government for coming to the table on issues plaguing our ambulance service.

$4.5 billion is being set aside in the state budget to help recruit more than 10,000 health staff.

More than 1800 new ambulance staff will be hired with the state government promising 30 additional ambulance stations in areas including Cherrybrook, Narellan and Kincumber.

The union is asking for a five per cent pay rise for paramedics compared to the current fixed rate for public servants at 2.5 per cent.

Ben Fordham says while the budget is expected to include a pay rise, it will fall short of the amount stipulated by the union.

Senior paramedic, and Union Representative from Kogarah Ambulance Station, Brett Simpson had earlier reached out to Ben Fordham Live to share his concerns.

He now tells Ben the 1800 additional staff is more than they were hoping for.
