‘Overwhelmed’ paramedic warns of ‘recipe for disaster’ as strikes continue
Paramedics will be carrying out industrial action every Monday for the next month, refusing to transport non-urgent patients.
They are pushing for an additional 1500 paramedic, pay rises and a better investment in training.
Senior paramedic, and Union Representative from Kogarah Ambulance Station, Brett Simpson reached out to Ben Fordham Live to share his concerns.
“We’re just trying to get some sort of action out of the government to fix the crisis that is just engulfing the ambulance service.
“I worked with a mate who told me that he worked 14 hours with no break and after his night shift woke up in the driveway of his house with no memory of getting there.
“That’s the type of fatigue and danger that we’re dealing with and then you throw in making life-threatening, time-critical decisions … and it’s just a recipe for disaster.”
