Could Penrith be the start of a Liberal political avalanche?

Kristina Keneally’s recent “film star welcome” in Penrith has counted for little in the cold light of the polling booth, with Labor taking a butchering in the weekend by-elections.

Liberal Stuart Ayres executed a record 25.5 swing against the Labor party – taking 50.9 percent of the primary vote.

Is this win a sign of things to come? Are you predicting a landslide in further elections for the Liberal party? Or are you still wary of any aces Labor might have up their sleeve?

Have your say.

Well all I can say is, if we would like this country to run on workplace individual contracts vote Liberal. It would not be fair to our young kids joining the workforce, they wouldnt be able to get a loan for a car, let alone a house or Unit..Come on lets give our youngsters a go like we had, make life more secure vote Labor..forget about the little issues that Liberals want to throw up, its the more important things that count..

Accountability and Change are words that have no meaning, well Ms Kristina Keneally let me state that the innovative are searing. For ignoring the concept of bringing back the balance, has let to the increase of yet more malice. As for this Barbie girl game that you play, take off the Crown and be on your way.

It most certainly is! Labour is on the nose in every State and Territory. I recently moved up to Queensland from the western suburbs of Sydney and everyone I knew out there wanted a change of horses, not a change of jockeys, as is the Labour way of fixing the problem. Many people in the Labour Party will be surprised after the next election, licking wounds and looking for someone to blame. They need look no further than the mirror!

I live in a neighbouring electorate. I would have voted lib to register my protest too. Now it's been made for me and I'd like to see how they react to the result. Libs aren't the answer though - all the supposed surplus the federal libs had was ill gotten from the GST. That was a money spinner for em that we all pay for but not becaue of good management but because it was a new tax. Hmm can't trust the whole lot of em. I'll just wait and see before I make any decisions come the elections.

Pleased to see the result at Penrith - but as much as I want to see a change in government in NSW, and I will be voting Liberal, a complete routing across the board cannot be good for the continuing good governance of this State. It is only when you have a strong opposition, including the quality of the MPs on both sides, that good governance can flourish for the betterment of NSW, that is after all, the baseline for good democracy to work.

Sally and Ben, I can see both your sides about the 40K zones. To have them on a six lane highway is a bit silly and more of a revenue raiser.
I just think kids of past generations were a lot smarter than todays young adults and todays kids because they don't realise you shouldn't run out onto the road. The other sad fact is the young adults can now vote and that's why we now have a Labor government. The oldies have worked it out because they are sensible and use their brains.

Sally, I'm sorry, but that sort of attitude on the road is utter arrogance. Surely you can see the stupidity of breaking the law..any law..simply because it doesn't suit your view of what it should be.

I'd suggest you vote for the Greens. They seem to be anti-anything that stands for law and order..except, of course, the imposition of their own bitter and twisted views on everybody else, especially on the climate and energy usage. The major parties are too afraid to stand up to their nonsense.

So, Sally Port wants to vote against Labor because she wants to be allowed to speed in a 40 zone?!?!
And we allow these people to vote why?
