Kids in Australia were massively disadvantaged during the pandemic, and only now are experts realising the impact it has had long-term on our kids.

Schools were shut down, classes were put online, and many kids slipped through the cracks and have simply not returned to education – or have done so seriously disadvantaged. In Sydney’s west is where some of the harshest situations occurred, and Joe Hildebrand spoke to Julie Hourigan Ruse, CEO of SHINE for Kids, about the impact on our children.

“It’s the worst failure any society can commit… which is to fail our children and fail our disadvantaged and vulnerable”, Joe told listeners.
