What happened when lions broke out during Sydney family’s overnight stay

Michael McLaren

A Sydney couple staying overnight at Taronga Zoo have shared the moment they were locked down in the early hours.

Dominique and Magnus Perri were sleeping with their two children at the zoo’s Roar and Snore program, just 100 metres from the lion enclosure.

The family were awoken by an alarm and zookeepers rushing to their tent at 6.40am.

He told Deborah Knight the children were more excited than scared.
