‘We’ve got the point’: Jim Wilson implores PM to move on from shadow cabinet crisis

Trent Nikolic

2GB Drive presenter Jim Wilson has implored Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to move on from the shadow cabinet crisis.

Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison is facing calls to resign from politics after it emerged he had appointed himself minister to various portfolios without announcing it to the public, or in some case, to his colleagues.

Jim said while that consituted a “serious failure in judgement” the Albanese government needed to move on.

“How long is Anthony Albanese and the new Labor government going to go on about this,” he said.

“Sure, they have every right to call Scott Morrison out on this, but that’s been done now, it’s done.”

Jim pointed to the fact that there have been thousands of lives lost in aged care since Labor took power as to where his focus should lie.

“Fixing aged care was on Anthony Albanese’s key promises in the lead-up to the May election,” he said.

“For 2020 and 2021 there were 917 total deaths in aged care because of COVID-19 … in the first 11 weeks of the new government there have been 12,015 lives lost due to COVID-19 in aged care facilities.

“Ah, hello Prime Minister? Maybe that’s where your energies and focus should be right now.

“Those numbers are extraordinary and they need addressing now.”
