Tonight, Johnathan Thurston walked out onto the field for the last time and gave a champion’s farewell with the Cowboys’ 30-26 win over the Titans.

The four-time Dally M medalist from North Queensland has won two Premierships, played 38 matches for Australia and 37 games for Queensland, since making his debut in 2002.

For The Continuous Call Team’s David ‘Thirsty’ Morrow, it was a particularly special game.

With his broadcasting career spanning four decades, Thirsty has emotionally described what calling Thurston has meant to him.

“To call this one is very special.

“It was a fitting end to what’s been an incredibly good career.

“It’s not very often you see champions… but I’ve seen one tonight.”
