The Greens have called horse racing ‘inhumane’, ‘unethical’ and ‘deadly. But what are the advantages or disadvantages of a ban? We hear from both sides. 

Vicky Leonard from ‘Kick Collective’ and the Thoroughbred Daily News, argues against a ban. She emphasised the vast resources to keep horses in pristine physical condition, including 79,000 employees looking after them.

“These animals are bred to run… in an environment that maximizes their health and well-being”, Leonard explains.

Kristin Leigh from the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses, argues for a ban, underlining the alleged brutal treatment and health conditions the horses endure.
