It has been 25 years since world-renowned British rock band Dire Straits hung up their guitars.

Since their first hit single “Sultans of Swing” shot into the top ten on UK and US charts in 1978, they went on to become one of the world’s most successful bands with worldwide records sales of over 100 million.

“I don’t think any of my listeners would argue with me when I say that Dire Straits was one of the greatest bands of all time,” says Chris Smith.

Now, Chris White and Terrence Reis from The Dire Straits Experience are captivating fans by breathing life back into the original heyday of rock compositions from the band.

“This is the best interview I’ve done,” says Chris Smith.

“It’s great to relive it, but the fact that it’s alive again is extraordinary.”

Chris White joined Dire Straits for their record-breaking Brothers In Arms world tour in 1985, which wrapped up in Australia.

He tells Chris “we were huge in Australia when we first came here, we had just the best, best time”.

“It was the best three months of my life.”
