Over the past fortnight, the spotlight has been on our athletes at the Commonwealth Games.

But a lesser-known sporting competition is about to kick off in Sydney and it features some extraordinary athletes.

The World Deaf Rugby Sevens Championships begins on Sunday and is the first of its kind.

Australian coach David Hoffman tells Alan Jones it’s a different kind of test.

“Rugby’s a challenging game at the best of times.

“They can’t hear normal speech. Normal conversations and things like that can be really quite challenging.”

David tells Alan what we can do to support our athletes who’ve defied the odds to play the game they love.

“The best thing is to come along to the games. Come along and support the players.”
