The eye-watering mark up on groceries as fuel excise claim debunked
Ben Fordham is calling on the federal government to prioritise the high cost of living in the upcoming budget.
One Big Switch data has revealed some products at Coles and Woolworths have gone up 95 per cent in the past 12 months.
Nescafe instant coffee, has gone up 75 per cent in 12 months and cans of baked beans and spaghetti are up 20 per cent.
While the cost of a 2-litre bottle of Fanta soft drink is up 95 per cent.
The federal Energy Minister has refused to cut the fuel excise, insisting it pays for road maintenance.
But the fuel excise isn’t tied to road infrastructure or maintenance,” Ben said, “Instead, it flows into general government tax revenue”.
