There’s a push to crack down on drivers using their phones behind the wheel.

This comes after two police officers were severely injured after a driver using his phone crashed into an RBT site.

Last year, NSW introduced a trial of tough new cameras targeting texting drivers.

But it doesn’t look like the cameras will be on our roads anytime soon.

Chris Smith speaks with Alex McCredie from One Task who says red tape is stopping the rollout.

“You wouldn’t be saving lives this year. You’re not even going to be saving lives next year if this process carries on.

“We could put them out right now.

“It’s endemic and no one is getting caught.”
