Teachers union apologises to parents but insists illegal strike will go ahead

The NSW Teachers Federation has apologised to parents while defending Tuesday’s planned strike.

Educators around the state will walk off the job – as they call for more action on increasing workloads, teacher shortages and pay.

President Angelo Gavrielatos told Ben Fordham the strike has to happen despite the NSW Industrial Relations Commission deeming it illegal.

“I apologise to every parent for the disruption … but tomorrow’s disruption will pale in insignificance when compared to the impact of teacher shortages.

“This is not ideal, we don’t want to be in this situation.”
