Teachers and anti-vaxxers clash in ‘one of the biggest’ union protests

Thousands of teachers have gathered at Hyde Park in Sydney and marched down Macquarie Street, but anti-vaxxers have attempted to hijack the rally.

Teachers across NSW are on strike today for the first time in a decade to protest staff shortages and call for more competitive salaries.

2GB senior reporter Clinton Maynard told Ray Hadley a small group of 30-40 anti-vaxxers wearing white shirts began booing the red-shirted teachers as they marched, yelling ‘shame on you’.

“The teachers, to their credit, barged right past.

“This will be one of the biggest [teacher] protests we’ve seen, certainly since the pandemic broke out.”
