Sydney’s Parramatta road, ‘a boulevard of broken dreams’ spark outrage

Chris O’Keefe called out the NSW government for not adhering to their 2016 ‘revitalise’ statement regarding Parramatta road.

The Mayor of the Inner West Council, Darcy Byrne admitted he was told it was going to be a “boulevard” and a “nirvana”.

“If it’s a boulevard, it’s a boulevard of broken dreams, because there has been absolutely no revitalisation of Parramatta road, ” Darcy said.

The NSW Cities Minister Rob Stokes joined Chris to outline that Darcy’s response was “misguided” on this topic.

“A lot has happened along the Parramatta corridor, we’re busy delivering new parks at Garside park, Auburn park… the inner west greenway, just to mention a few,” Rob Stokes added.

“A lot of money has been provided to councils to get on with that work, the Inner West council are a big part of that.”

Allegedly, $36.5 million has been provided to the Inner West Council to do a lot of that work, especially trackless trams along Parramatta road.
