Sydney Trains apologise and consider compensation after Sunday’s commuter chaos

Sydney Trains is considering compensating inconvenienced passengers after trackwork caused massive delays over the weekend.

Upgrades to the signalling system and work on the City Circle train line saw some services cancelled, with replacement buses also seeing substantial delays.

Thousands of people were up-in-arms, with some forced to wait for hours.

Sydney Trains CEO Howard Collins is apologising for the inconvenience, telling Ben Fordham they are considering compensating individuals.

“We took apart our almost forty-year-old ceiling system.

“We didn’t get it entirely right. I think there were a lot of issues in terms of the numbers of people travelling.”
