Abbott’s Hotel publican Bill Smith has a great incentive to keep his customers cool, and his bar busy.

He’s set up a special ‘beer-o-meter’ so that, if it gets hot enough, punters score free beer.

Mr Smith tells Ben he’s already at $3.80-schooners.

“We’ve actually said if it’s 42 on the beer-o-meter, it goes for free.

“I’m here to make friends not money,” he says.
